    Remake State of the State

Well, it seems that the Remake community has really gone dark since the update. We've had a little initial discussion about the changes in the boardroom, but not too much. So what are everyone's thoughts on the changes to the game? Any thoughts on how Remake should proceed from here? I for one would love to see the activity level back to where it used to be. Is everyone still engaged and just quiet?

Re: Remake State of the State

No, the game sucks since the update and I'm barely caring enough to update my starters for playoff games. It's pretty consistent across the site that activity levels are dropping and it's not just about resistance to change...the management really dropped the ball forcing all of this stuff at once and straight up lying (intentionally or not) about some things (like how the Classic Sim would behave).
I personally don't even care that much about low scoring games, but the change to player development is ridiculous. Most will never hit their potentials and, if they do, they'll immediately start declining. Will this "fix itself" when every player has such a small career peak several years down the road? I don't know...and I don't think they really know.

So, there's nothing we can do but sit here and hope attrition doesn't kill things off before they fix their mistakes.

I'm enjoying the unexpected playoff appearance in AAA in year 5.

Inherited an in-between team with too much talent to give up on but not enough to really compete. Expected to hover around 3rd-5th place (barring years going all in on PSFA) for a while longer, but we managed to squeak in this year (just missing out on 1st place in the final series of the season).

I'm as engaged with the team as I was before. There's a cap on how attached I can get to Scranton though given by its design, AAA is a temporary stop on the way to another team. I'd have a little more attachment if I could have lucked into Norfolk (my hometown team growing up), but it wasn't in the cards.

I can say AAA has a very competitive free agent market, so many owners are pretty involved even if the forum activity is light.

The game is a mess right now. There is no clear picture of where it is heading, so I find it impossible to understand what I am supposed to do with my team.

I get the impression that we are supposed to ride out the transition till things settle down, but I question how many people will stick around.

They really screwed up by not letting the legacy leagues stay as close to the old model as possible. Why they changed the normalization formula and development formulas for those leagues is confusing to me.

I wish they'd pull a new coke, and just bring back the classic model. They can keep updating new leagues, and just leave the old leagues as legacy.

I'm with you guys on a lot of it. I'm not at the apathetic state, but I have concerns. I wish they had truly left the Classic Sim alone, and just introduced new versions. I'm not sure they really did the testing that was claimed. I am part of the testing group, and there wasn't much going on, so not many people have even been involved lately including myself. But there wasn't much said about the changes other than the ratings stuff; and I don't feel there was much time dedicated to it. I'm hoping there was a lot of testing done independent from that live group.

I've said it in other places, but people volunteering to test aren't the same as people that know about testing methodologies and are paid to do it. I'm sure it wasn't tested properly. If it was, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Re: Remake State of the State

The testing that was done by people wasn't in regard to the items that have angered people. The testing was "does this work", "can you make a trade", "can you break something." etc.

The feedback of "this doesn't seem like it makes sense", "Why is this changing?" was not part of the testing. When the testers asked questions we were told that CSFBL was on a journey and that this was just one part of it, and until the end we couldn't see or understand the final destination.

Yes, maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but I don't remember getting any communication that things would change as much as we've seen in the final product. Hence, why I didn't pay a lot of attention to the testing. Hardly anything was really being communicated about what was going on, and as spambox said, it was all about letting them know if things were broken.

    Yup, that reinforces my point.

Yup. Volunteer testers aren't the same as paying people to test. You're right.
