VOTE: June update, league ERA setting

We'll stay "classic" for the remainder of the season at least. But, what do we want to go with going forward?

Dead Ball Era (FAR fewer HR's, more small-ball and pitching dominance)

Free Agent Era (like "classic" with an updated sim engine)

NOTE: in BOTH new sim models, it is a new sim build which means RA is no longer disproportionately powerful, and CN will actually be beneficial.

This one's a dead heat. This is one we MUST decide on before the next flip if it is going to change. I'll go ahead and say that a tie means we stay classic, and continue to discuss for the season after.

Last call on this. It's been 2.5 weeks. I'll declare a winner on Saturday 6/25, 3 complete weeks since poll was posted. Right now FA is winning, and I really hope it does win.

I feel like to make a change this impactful, a simple majority of league owners voting for it should be required.

I will send a PM to those who haven't voted. But after all this time and multiple reminders, I'd have to think they don't have an opinion and would be fine with either.

11/19 owners have voted, so we've reached the simple majority of owners voting. So I think this vote will be determinative.

I was thinking a simple majority of owned teams (so 10 votes in favor), but I don't really care that much. My biggest gripe is doing this asap and not giving a chance for owners to plan for it. I used the #1 overall pick on a 98 RA SS literally last season. No way I use that pick on that guy knowing this. RA is a huge part of how I build my rosters, I'm fine making the change but would expect some runway to keep it from being a huge penalty to heavy RA owners.

Same here, I have 2 no-hit high RA MI's, both young, as part of my current build. The classic model's normalization has dropped offense across the board, and I long for the day where having black holes in my lineup is no longer basically necessary, so I can exploit the game's flaws to win. I even voted for it in CBF, where the only thing going right with my current rebuild is getting tons of RA in key positions. Surely we can agree on the absurdity of picking a no hit SS at #1 overall in any real-life MLB scenario. I vote in these polls not with my own short-term interests in mind, but with how I think it will make the game better. Switching right-away will probably not change the standings that much next season, if at all. Teams with no RA, stud hitting SS's might see a boost, lol.

But, I can make a 2nd vote for rollout time. How does a choice between: 1. Immediately, 2. 5 seasons, 3. 10 seasons sound?

It's a complex issue for me. I see the appeal in making it more like MLB, but I am not convinced this does that in sum. I also hate switching current leagues over midstream. It makes prior season numbers basically irrelevant for comparison. Though one could argue that makes it more like MLB too between the dead ball, steroids, rabbit ball, expansion etc. lol. Ultimately I think I just enjoy the current version of CSFBL more than I anticipate enjoying the FA era version. I seem to be in the minority though in most of my leagues.

I'm just SO TIRED of the same old formula (High RA up the middle, ground ball pitching) winning 90% of the titles (I use it too). Especially when it's more of an exploit than a strategy. But, maybe I'm too optimistic about the new sims. I dunno.
