I can see your point I think mid 20's he'll be pretty solid with above average CO and EN, then maybe has 5 or six really good seasons into his ealry 30's where if the team is good behind him he'll be under 3 ERA and as he ages still is under 4.

The boardroom didn't have much to talk about at the annual draft meeting. It was pretty clear that CF David Cooper was going to be the choice.

The only question was where exactly was that potBA? Happily, it ended up at 99. So next year's Yard Goat's team will feature 4 players with 99 BA (potential anyways, 2 are there, the other 2 might take an extra year). Two other players in the lineup will have a BA of 97. The last 3 awful hitters in the lineup will have BA's of 91, 88, and 76 respectively.

Now... if a couple of them could also pitch, I'd have a playoff team. *sigh*

I had Emery Rivers #2 on my shortlist for my pick at #16. He's not going to dominate but he should be a solid pitcher once he reaches his potentials. Judging from the description of your offense, that might be all you need.

Yeah good pickup. He'll start next year. I only need about a sub-5.00 ERA and I should win a few games.

Swung for the fences with my pick of P Earl Olsen. With the half scouting before the pick, he showed miscouts in PO, FI, RA, and EN, so I gambled that he'd be one of the better pitchers left.

He gained 15 points in potential PO, 18 points in FI, 12 points in CO, and 13 points in EN. All that was needed was a modest gain from his 84 SY to really make it all work, but he actually ended up losing 9 there.

All in all, 280 in the big 4 which should let him compete to get into the back end of the rotation. Had the SY gone up instead of down--or even just stayed the same--he'd have been a pretty good pick, but alas.

Nearly halfway through the season, and Trenton now sits 31-46 and is somehow in the lead for the wild card. This is a brutal year for the AL East.

I predicted a team ERA north of 5.00 for us at the start of the year, and we are just barely coming in under that so far at 4.94. I'm a bit surprised we're led on offense by Joe Kinder "Surprise" (looks like I missed the window on getting him renamed, so it'll just have to be unofficial). Hard to imagine he keeps up a 29 HR per 160 pace with just 42 SL though.

In the draft, we rounded out our useful picks with 1B Patrick Aguilar. He has the dreaded inconsistent CN/SL combo at 90/89 respectively, but he pairs it with pretty good DI (83). BA ended up being underscouted, but 57 is hardly going to make that 90 CN easy to swallow. He joins our burgeoning cast of sluggers in the minors with Tony Troche at 96 SL and Andrew Parker at 90 SL.

The AL West on the other hand is the toughest division in the league with 3 teams at +100 or better in the division. My 38-37 record is only good for 5th in the division. Division record is 10-25, maybe a division change would get us a playoff spot.

we'll just a couple of seasons into owning the team, a + .500 record is a step in the right direction. The team has been out of the playoffs the past 4 seasons. The team is lead by Cam Hawkins (I hate these nicknames that have been added). .892 OPS has him as a candidate for ROY this season.

The pitching on this team sucks and the defense is only marginally better than when I took over, hense the negative RunDif. Still a long ways away but at least trying to be respectable.

I'll consider name changes if you would like (@CBT).

The nicknames were intended to be fun. I did a bunch at random one night when I was bored. If anyone wants a player's nickname removed I'll happy do so (@bobcat).

Sure, if that's an option. I'd just want Joe Kinder -> Joseph Kinder "Surprise".

Apparently Kinder Surprises--the real ones anyway--are still illegal in the US, but they started making FDA approved variations in which the toy normally concealed in the chocolate egg is instead packaged along side it which explains why I've been seeing them crop up in stores despite being supposedly banned.

My wife's from overseas and has a soft spot for them despite my best attempts to get her into Cracker Jack instead.

I literally had to Google that. I hate chocolate and have never heard of these. The Wikipedia article was enlightening, and the stories of people being detained are hilarious. Gotta love our government.
