    Re: 2011 playoff races

In Sam Crawford, Wahoo is a lock for October Baseball^TM while Tyrus and nurm duke it out for the 2nd playoff spot. Tyrus is 4-6 against nurm and leads by 2 games, but nurm will have the chance to close that gap or even take the late lead in their series from 9/13-9/16. A possible 'Battle Of The Brothers'? We shall see. Winner gets to ride shotgun on the drive home from school on Fridays.

I'm told that due to the rules of the game, another team must qualify for the 2nd playoff spot in Hank Aaron ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Please don't come back to this post when I inevitably get swept in the first round by one of these sub-.500 team, for the sake of my sanity

Roberto Clemente is shaping out to be Waco vs Hartford, as Texas and Darlton, 7.5 and 9.5 GB, would need a 'minor miracle' to make it this year. As of right now, their combined odds of qualifying are 0.9%. So, yeah. A 5.36 ERA from Darlton's 2 and 3 starters really hurt them, and I know the feeling as well.

Minnie Minoso's top 3 are stacked. As in, there haven't been a stronger batch of top-3 teams in any division in the league's 3.5-year history before. I'll leave a table below. And at this very point in time, on league date 9/7, the reigning league champs and SrS-leading Schitts Creek Critters aren't projected to make it out of the division because of their tiebreaker with Henderson. But rather comically (unless you're jose, CK, or Shiva), they are all projected to finish no more than 1.1 game apart, and the Critters are projected to edge out the Cheesemongers by just 0.1 games in the standings (so for practical purposes, pretty much tied). And because the CSFBL Gods enjoy to foster a sense of hysteria and panic within their victims, San Diego, Henderson, and Schitts Creek all play each other in their last 3 series.

I'm rather happy that Rayado got out of the league cellar.

    Re: 2011 playoff races

I'm glad to see that the young talent that we brought up this season in Seattle has made a difference. We still need a number of pieces to get into the playoffs, but we hope that it will just take time and will happen eventually. There is great competition. Taking two of three from Schitts Creek just now has made our upcoming series against the other leaders in our division much more interesting to watch. We are shooting for .500 or better this season.

    Re: 2011 playoff races

Coming into 2011, we had 4 teams that made the postseason in all 3 years prior. This is how they fared this year

Schitts Creek Critters - Eliminated on tiebreaker in last game of season despite being atop the SrS leaderboard

Homestead Grays - Blew 2 game lead over Galveston in the back half of September, missed by one game

Darlton Sharks - Pitching staff imploded after winning the division 3x in a row, took 4th in Roberto Clemente

Seminole Stingrays - Pushed out by the three-headed monster of San Diego/Henderson/Schitts Creek, and the up-and-coming Seattle. Finished 5th in Minnie Minoso.
