There are only 4 Phillies that were even in the system the last time we went to a WS. LF Morrie Burns was a 2nd rounder in '54, watched from LM in 55 and 56. Long time utility guy Jim Baumer was drafted in 55 (now in AAA). Stud reliever Art Mahaffey was drafted in '56. And utility slugger Rogelio Alvarez was also drafted in '56. No active Phillies were active then.

Kalish wasn’t renamed because Nine had mentioned to me that he wasn’t much interested in renames until the A’s got to their dynasty roster. He’s definitely a stud.
Every time I see Kalish, I think of "Kahless" from Star Trek Klingon lore. Probably have to be a Star Trek nerd, or at least a casual ST fan, to get that one though.

I guess that makes it my turn?

At a quick glance, I think I've met the White Sox and the Tigers the most in the WS.
My first season in the league was 1944. Looks like we'll be even haha.

Phillies take the series 4-0. Run differential for the series Phillies +4, haha.
Congrats Vulp, there will be a great team in the city of brotherly love for awhile!

Congrats. The old king takes over power from the current king once again.

Before the pandemic I watched Wrath of Khan at a local indoor concert venue with my brother and several thousand other Trek fans. Afterwards William Shatner came out to talk to the audience & was interviewed by a local sports announcer. It was a fun night. He was really "with it" for someone who was 88 at the time.

That's the most recent time I saw Wrath of Khan.

    Cheers,
    Wayne

I went to school with a guy with the last name Kalish (first name wasn't Son). Anyway, it amuses me when I see him on the roster.

BTW -- Kalish is the first A's MVP since 1928.
