An Opening Day Recap...
Aurora Not Worthys 8 @ Thacker Holler Coalminers 4
By the time Rice hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 5th with no one out it was 7-0 Not Worthys, Walker made it interesting in the bottom of the 6th with a 3-RBI double but it wasn't enough to come back. James Watts only threw 44 pitches before an early pull. Vernon Morrell threw a nice amount of strikes to claim the Opening Day win for Aurora.
POTG: Thacker Holler's C Allan Bosque 3-4, HR, 1 RBI
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonky Conk Howboys 0 @ Vermont Lake Monsters 6
23 year old Ronald Miles throws 7 scoreless, Wiesner came in to close out the game in a non-save opportunity. Tonky Conk struggled to string together any long innings or put Vermont in danger.
POTG: Vermont's Ronald Miles 7.0 IP, 5 HA, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO, W
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Augusta Anarchists 4 @ Hartford Havoc 6
Hartford took a commanding 6-0 lead by the end of the 4th, and Eby was cruising. But then, Eby was yanked after just 79 pitches through 7 and Hartford immediately got rocked for 4 in the next inning. However, the Havoc still muscle out a 6-4 victory on Opening Day.
POTG: Augusta's Dennis Eby 7 IP, 5 HA, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO, W
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seminole Stingrays 0 @ Schitts Creek Critters 5
Evans throws a nice amount of pitches and splits a shutout with Warren, who earned the save. Gator "anti-Kevin Cash" Dave leaves Timothy Holmes out there for all 8 innings. Ron Auchubon collects all 5 of Schitts Creek's RBIs, including a grand slam with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd. I question the POTG results here...
"POTG" (yeah, sure boss): Schitts Creek's Evans 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO
(Schitts Creek's C Auchubon 2-4, 2B, HR, 5 RBI)
See you at 9:00 PM!

Opening Day (Part 2) Recap...
Homestead Grays 4 @ Galveston Crabs 1
Harrell vs Hackett sure was a treat, but Hackett's pitch count got too high and Harrell walks away with the win today. Goldstein earned the save and threw 9 pitches all for strikes, but didn't collect 3 SOs? Must be a game bug unless I'm missing something here.
POTG: Homestead's Anthony Harrell 8.0 IP, 9H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO, W
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aurora Not Worthys 12 @ Thacker Holler Coalminers 0
What we have here is failure to execute...on all cylinders. Better luck next time...
POTG: Aurora's Eric Paulsen 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO, W
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brooklyn Gladiators 3 @ Wayne's Awesome Team 4
A pitcher's duel and true extra-inning thriller. Brooklyn held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th, but WAT began chipping away tied the game in the bottom of the 8th. Although the Gladiators threatened in the top of the 9th, they failed to cash in. In the bottom of the 10th, Calvin Scroggs let Myron Hagan reach first on an error. Claude Clark hit a single, advancing Hagan to 2nd. James Diaz hit a single to center, and Hagan rounded third and head for home. Ballgame.
POTG: (what?) WAT's Johnny Swank 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, SV
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Jersey Pioneers 1 @ Moon BMW'ers 5
A solid showing by Moon on Opening Day all-around. New Jersey is complacent in the meantime with just scratching a run away in garbage time and avoiding the shutout. Not sure why I'm talking in third person. Also, apparently 100 RA Roger Stone is able to catch foulballs from CF so we might want to check what's up with that...
POTG: Moon's Reuben Knapp 9.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO, W, CG
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hickory Crawdads 8 @ Springfield Isotopes 3
Hickory went up 7-0 after the top of the 4th, and although the Isotopes made it a little interesting at the end, the lead was just to much to overcome. Good luck scoring more than 7 runs in an inning...
POTG: Hickory's C Pudge Huff 2-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI, BB
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonky Conk Howboys 8 @ Vermont Lake Monsters 9
W-what happened? Through 6 innings, Vermont led 6-0. Then, 5 hits, 2 walks, and an error later and the Howboys put up an 8 spot on the road (in one inning). But the Lake Monsters got it back, tossed 2 scoreless innings and scored 3 runs to crawl away with the 9-8 victory. Wow.
POTG: Tonky Conk's DH Edward Ritchie 2-4, HR, 4 RBI
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mount Airy Marshalls 4 @ Funkytown Fearless 2
The Fearless struck out a whopping 14 times in this game, on the heels of a QS from Devin Gray and save by youngster Rayshon Rojas. An enjoyable pitcher's duel all the way through.
POTG: Mount Airy's CF Jimmy Johnson 2-3, HR, BB
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Augusta Anarchists 5 @ Hartford Havoc 6
An epic comeback. Down 2-5 and with only 9 outs left at home, Hartford rallied for 1 run in the bottom of the 7th and a deciding 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th in addition to scoreless frames in innings 6-9 to walk away with the win in this one. And how about Shattuck?!
POTG: Hartford's RF George Shattuck 4-4, 3 HR, 2B, 5 RBI
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Darlton Sharks 4 @ Waco Dons BlueCats 6
Waco's bullpen may have let this game slip in the 6th and 7th, but a clutch double from Travis and sac fly by Enriquez are just enough to push the BlueCats over the Sharks in this one.
POTG: Waco's DH Charles Conyers 1-2, HR, 2 BB, RBI
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard Cheese 3 @ Rayado Scouters 4
A balanced game. No one really stunk or played over their heads, but each individual played solid in a close tugging match as the Scouters walk away with the win. Oscar Shoup had all of the Cheese's 3 walks.
POTG: SS Mark Engel 2-4, HR, 2 RBI
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Baseball Club 2 @ San Diego No-No's 4
21 year old Raul Hutchinson delivers when it matters, and gives San Diego a great Opening Day performance! We will watch his career with great interest.
POTG: San Diego's Raul Hutchinson 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 SO
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seminole Stingrays 3 @ Schitts Creek 15
Jason Toliver makes his debut and impresses coaches and fans, but once again Ron "Ouch" Aubuchon hits another grand slam in back-to-back games. He's currently on pace for 880 RBI this season.
POTG: Schitts Creek's C Ron Aubuchon 4-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI
Good luck this season!
