    Re: Grizzlies Gazette

Here’s a riddle for all of you Fresno fans…..

“How does a professional baseball team lose a game after building an eleven-run lead?”

If you’re looking for the answer, just ask the pitching staff of your Fresno Grizzlies! After an eight-run outburst put the visitors up by 11-0 after the top of the fifth, the homestanding Charlotte Knights scored four in the bottom of the inning, and then four Grizzlies relievers combined to give up eleven hits and ten runs over two innings in a 14-11 comeback win.

Management was sorely tempted to cancel the planned trip to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, but the tickets had already been purchased and were non-refundable so the players still got to tour the museum, but didn’t get much time in the souvenir store.

By sheer coincidence, the team will be returning home during Fresno Fire and Safety Week, where the pre-game festivities will include “Guns vs. Hoses”, a charity softball game between the local police and fire departments, as well as a first-pitch appearance by Smokey the Bear of the U.S. Forest Service. A few jaded fans were heard remarking that it will be nice to have someone in the ballpark who can actually put out a fire.

This just in from the Promotions and Marketing Department….check out the team store for the new “Kerosene Corps” t-shirts featuring our bullpen! Shop early – they won’t last!!!

    Re: Grizzlies Gazette

The three newest members of the Grizzlies organization were introduced to the home fans in pre-game ceremonies before the July 18th game at Chukchansi Stadium. Shortstop Robert Maloy, centerfielder Harvey White and southpaw pitcher Luis Burke donned Fresno caps and shirts and watched batting practice from the Grizzlies’ dugout. Maloy, the second overall pick in the 2123 draft, will probably be making more of an immediate impact than second round pick White or third-rounder Burke but all three will be headed off to the instructional league or wherever it is that Fresno’s CSFBL players not currently on the active roster go. Before leaving, though, Burke represented the trio in throwing out the first pitch – and showed why he needs to work on his control by uncorking a wild throw that missed the glove of backup catcher Christopher Pena completely and instead struck unsuspecting team mascot Parker T. Bear squarely in the solar plexus. The expression on PTB’s face never changed as he slowly dropped to his knees before being tended to by team medical staff.

New this week in the team store – Parker T. Bear Cornhole Bobbleheads! Relive the infamous “Battle of the Bears” every time you watch the bobble leg on this collectible! As a special bonus, the first one hundred (100) fans to purchase one will also receive a limited edition Cubbie Bear doll that can be placed in front of the PTB bobblehead so that you’ll always have the memory of that day every time you look on your mantel!
