    Double plays

My guys seem to hit into a lot of double plays; 23 in 15 games or so. Is this simply a lack os speed?

Speed (SP)Speed reflects how well and how fast a player runs the bases. SP is not just a measure of raw speed - it's a combination of speed plus baserunning instincts. Aside from the obvious influence on stolen bases, Speed will also influence the rate and success of a player taking extra bases, tagging up, and breaking up double plays.

I haven't looked at your players, but.....

Ones with high CN, & lower BA will tend to hit into a lot of DPs. Especially if they don't have high DI &/or SL . They put balls into play , on the ground, rather than swinging & missing, or flying out. A 75CN/50BA batter will hit into more DPs than the reverse.
Also, did you look at the pitchers faced? FI/SY type pitchers will induce more groundouts, so if that's what you've been facing lately, a lot of DPs are to be expected.
