radical idea: entry player auction instead of draft

could we devise a way to replace our draft with auction? would we want to do that?

    why? 'fix' tanking. more fun.

how? that's what this thread is for. are any other leagues doing in?

So much effort. But also potentially very fun. What are we bidding with, cap space? That would need dev help
    Happy, but a little lost

I like it. How many Earth days do we have from list drop to draft sim again? We’d probably have to limit it to just 24 players. Maybe two players are up for auction at a time. Could definitely work. You draft the guys you win and then have to cut and sign them to the new deal the following offseason? Eventually everyone drifts back down to CSFBL pricing, but there are real costs to signing guys for big dollars.

I think using in game cap space would have in intended consequences (cuts of useful players mostly). And I dont think anyone wants bad teams to get worse

An auction bank would probably be necessary. Would lower finishing teams get more $, would there be rollover from season to season, more questions.

It would be an undertaking, but worthwhile in my head

If we use Cap space we might run into some problems. Given that a lot of the drafted players will be 0 xp for many years, I'd expect to see a lot of teams with bloated Low Minors and no cap space for the majors. Going to increase the boom and bust cycle.

Probably better to create some other $$ amount for using in the auction and then just letting the game cap stay the same. Players join the teams at their drafted salary.

Depending on how things go, I'll have 1000 a month to bid with

Interesting... Should probably discuss this idea for a couple months, sticky it for a year, and then slowly let it fall by the wayside.
