    1985 Season Discussion

The Wolverines had a bombshell dropped on them as training camp was just getting underway. Veteran 3B John Vogt abruptly retired, leaving the team scrambling to find a replacement. Upon investigation it was discovered that he had left his car parked in the street next to the spring training facilities, and it was towed. Vogt was widely known to be a the consummate tightwad, driving an original 1989 Yugo. The car was picked up by the city, thinking it was junk, and brought it to a scrapyard where it was crushed. Vogt was so upset by the news that he quit on the spot. Rumor is that he is said to be heading up to Canada where he plans to be a fishing guide.

Montreal sweeps the 1st series meeting against Philly, all 1 run games. Not to mention us losing the 4th game against Boston for a 5 game losing steak after 8-2 start, oh yeah that game against Boston was 1-0.

    4/13/1985 at Boston Americans L, 1–0
    4/14/1985 at Montreal Expos L, 4–3
    4/15/1985 at Montreal Expos L, 1–0 (14) Wowzers
4/16/1985 at Montreal Expos L, 6–5 (16)5-0 spos headed into 7th when we put up 5 spot in 7th, then nobody scores till 16th
    4/17/1985 at Montreal Expos L, 2–1

yeah thats right we played 30 innings on the 15th & 16th

But i broke the streak.... with a 4-3 win over NY

Looks like we finally are getting this league infused with some quality pitching (along with some nice SL) through this year's draft.

I'm sure you didn't mean this guy but Brendon Bennett, a 3rd rd pick, is doing the unexpected. Of course he won't continue but Milwaukees pitching has improved tremendously this year.
