    1985 Rule 5 draft

Rule 5 selections- Any team can select a player 26 YO or older in a team’s AAA or LM system between 4/9 & 5/2 by offering its own upcoming draft pick with a value between pick 31-54.

In MLB a rule 5 states that a claimed player must stay on the claiming team for the entire season. The way we will do it is simple. Rule 5’s will have a “Stuck” post (highlighted in forum that will stay at the top) for each season. After the season is complete and a new season flips I will check all rule 5 picks and if any of them still have Rookie status (0 EXP by game rules) that player will be returned to his former team, the claiming team will NOT receive its draft pick back. It doesnt matter which roster the claimed player is on (Active, AAA, LM). Players with 1 or more years of EXP selected in rule 5 will become property of the claiming team and will have no conditions on playing time for the current season. (a team claiming a player with 1 or more seasons of EXP can keep that player on active roster until 5/2, then move them to AAA for development the rest of season, however if the player is left in AAA before 5/2 they can be claimed by another team)

The purpose of selecting a player in the rule 5 draft is for that player to help your team, if the player still has some room to develop, make sure they get the site minimum to qualify for a season of service. 130 plate appearances or 30 innings pitched.

Newly added FAs & Traded players- when a player is received in a trade or newly added from FA, he is immune to the rule 5 process for 24 Hours / 8 sim days. If a player is received in a trade and is sent to AAA or LM he must be moved to the active roster within the timeframe listed above or be subject to a rule 5 claim.

How to submit a Rule 5 claim- A claiming team must submit the claim by PM to myself and to the team owner who's player they are claiming. In the PM you must send a link to the player being claimed and the compensatory pick that is being sent for the player. As discussed previously claims will be on a st come bases since the PMs are timestamped. Keep in mind, roster moves for every team are also timestamped under team news. So no funny business please.
