Paying $13 mil for a 24 year old pitcher

WOW!! All I can say is he better have gaudy numbers every season or it may go down as the biggest dud ever.

I won two seasons ago and had the best record last year. Pitching is hard to come by and I want at least one more title. So I went all in. We'll see how it works out

sometimes you just have to get them on your team and let the rest fall into place. if you can make 13m available to get FA players, good on ya!

If I thought he could be the piece that gets me there, I'd do it. I'm in to win. Look what I've tried to do with the Mayhem, I've ruined its LM trying to win for the last 10 seasons or more. Looks like I'm still trying too.

wow. that much scrutiny over a single free agent? What's wrong with starting him out in the pen to see what he can do? What if I have 5 starters with a sub 4 era already? What if as a MR he has the 5th most innings on the team? What if that set up has the best record in the league by 5 games? If I can come up with the cash, I'd say that was money well spent to secure a young pitching talent that current sports a sub 2 ERA.

I agree somewhat, but fiscally that's poor resource management.

we'll see. the amount of salary over a free agent's base salary declines 50% each year. In about 4 years he'll be at base salary.
