    2012 Hot Stove Chatter

Well Narrows management was excited to overspend in the PSFA market and pay three times the worth of a ready to go player. Even more excited to see we had $9 Million in cap space before roster moves. Then the optimism went right out the window looking at the 12 PSFAs. Pretty bad crop...worst in Narrows time in the league. A big disappointment for us since we have literally no LM system...our team has exclusively been fed by the PSFA market.

So now the question is do we sell off or hope we can slug our way into the playoffs again?

    Soul search time.

Muffville has a whole new outfield with the lowest range a 94. A big step in wins is expected this season and perhaps the first time since taking over the team could be buyers rather than sellers on the trade market. With high draft slots in upcoming draft we certainly have the ammunition to buy a star if we find ourselves fighting for for an invitation to the dance.

Last season our offense averaged 4.7 runs a game our expectation is to be over 5. ERA was an abysmal 5.87. The huge upgrade in OF range in our max sized stadium should make a substantial impact on our young power pitchers. We expect over a full run to be shaved that number. Led by Harris as the ace of the staff, I'd be shocked if isn't a front runner in the Cy Young discussions the next 10 seasons or so. A power rating of 88 and SY of 97 along with his first defensive OF we expect around a 2.5 ERA to go with his 275 Ks he's been averaging per season.

While excitement is high this season fact remains we are in a tough division and won 60 games last season. Hitting .500 and being relevant is the large step we are looking to take this season.

Nice outlook summary. If you find yourself needing a power bat, we are open for business.

It appears with 3 hours left, William Knight has 10 teams giving him offers. To me he doesn't seem like a game changing player, but he'll probably make 10 mil+ as that's the nature of the new season FA market. Interesting to see where he will sign. I obviously can't see how much the offers are worth, but I'll go out on a limb and say that Istanbul will get him. I've got a 1/10 chance so we'll see.

Nothing Night Hawk News- In the new GM's second season, things are looking pretty bleak for the future. The offense looks bad and the pitching looks mediocre, and as stated by Tyrus, the $15mil cap space Nothing has is next to useless as the FA pool is pretty much dry. The only bright spots for the team will be new call ups Michael Johnson and Larry Collins. Besides those, the starters look very unmotivated, especially since everyone besides the call-ups are subject to being traded at any point in the season. The hope is to win 70 games, but the expectation is to win 60.

What an idiot, talk about overpaying for a mid level starter.

After some major offseason drops in salary, LBV saw its cap space suddenly skyrocket. With 0 draft capital to acquire hitting help we felt like this was the only player worth getting in the FA pool. Not surprised 11.7M got it done since he is not worth that, but here is to hoping he at least produces an OPS over .800.

That was actually a good call, but Istanbul dropped their initial offer by $3 mil at the last minute in a moment of clarity. Overpaying for a guy that clearly won't be in the picture when we are hopefully a contender again just wasn't in our best interest.

Reply failure. Haha, too early in the morning.

One more Walker Park player available:

Christopher McGill - ACE. Cy Young. Career 81-35 with 21 shutouts. 88 CG in 129 starts. It is going to take a great package for me to trade him - but he will make your average team a WS contender. https://www.csfbl.com/player/view.asp?playerid=4780944

Don't forget that Trevin Meade is also still on the market. https://www.csfbl.com/player/view.asp?playerid=4692998

I would also consider trading 27 y/o, 91 RA, Silver Slugger winning SS Jason Davis for a strong return.

    Pitching and defense wins titles.
