Nope, I was just using the old year so I didn't have to modify the format.

Rigney and Connors are 2 players that I've cut from my roster.
I've bought 1B Ryan Mitchell from Czech for 1st round pick, signed FA LF Melvin Robinson and promoted Ragioni and Swanson for the bench and Peli to patrol CF...

    Nice write up.
But D.R is still believing to make the 32 Games Comeback to avoid Relegation, even it will become difficult in this strong Division

Well if you can do it, kudos to you...I'd be impressed!

    Vatican City 88 72 585 542 +43

    Russia 84 76 686 623 +63
    Republica Dominicana 56 104 593 768 -175

Vatican City barely missed the playoffs due to an epic 13-1 ending for the season by the Czech Republic. They are still strongly in first place in the division, with a very tight race for second with the four teams behind them. Dominican Republic is in a hole so far back there is almost no way they will not be able to avoid relegation for the second cycle in a row.

    WHAT ABOUT NOW

    D.R.
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
Geronimo ValdespinRookie1943 1st round pick (#4)89 FI/100 COValdespin is well developed for 21 and will be a big time contributor
Ervin SantanaRookie1944 1st round pick (#2)94 FI/95 SYSantana is a 23 year old stud who will be D.R.’s ace for years
C Cesar DevarezRookie1942 2nd round pick (#31)98 DI/93 ARNice rookie catcher that does his job
1B Alberto HerreraRookie1942 1st round pick (#9)98 DIAnother OBP rookie with a solid glove at 1B
SS Elizardo CopadoRookie1945 1st round pick (#3)97 BACopardo has a great bat, but he doesn’t have the defense to play a good SS
2B Rafael BelliardRookie1946 1st round pick (#6)88 RABelliard will be the best defensive player on the Dominican roster

--A bevy of talented youngsters, the product of several years of tanking, made their way into the lineup for the Dominican Republic this year. They also dealt away Gabriel Kovar for another 1st round pick, and have the #1 overall pick this year. The young guns will all make a big difference in both the lineup and staff, but the defense is still awfully suspect, and after 5+ years of picking in the top 10, there’s really no way they avoid relegation again this cycle and have to deal with an even smaller cap.

    New Caledonia
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
RF John MagnusonRookieFA signing78 career gamesMagnuson is adefensive corner outfielder signed for cap reasons

--N.C. had to release star George Warner for cap reasons, but they’ll be in the thick of things again this year. They have a star-studded staff and a high OBP offense with guys who can also hit it out well. They have defense up the middle as well, and though they still have some holes, will not be an easy out.

    Vatican City
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
Felix TrinitatisRookie1944 2nd round pick (#33) Trinitatus was brought up for cap reasons and is significantly under developed
Aaron PriceRookieFA signing83 SYPrice is a young arm who will have an impact in the bullpen

--Vatican City had to make cap moves and did so with mainly low level additions. They still have a good team and an absolutely incredible staff led by Anakletos Achaea, but their eggs are primarily in the pitching basket and they will struggle on the side of scoring runs (last in the division last year and will be close this year).

    Czech Republic
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
Terry Bills2 year vettrade with Israel for second round pickcareer 5.04 ERABills is a lefty reliever
Johnatan Monti3 year vettrade with a 1st rounder from USA for Tokko Kunocareer ERA 4.56Monti will attempt to fill a rotation hole
1B Gabriel Kovar2 year vettrade for first round pick with D.R.career .711 OPSKovar is a good 1B with a decent bat who will fill Ryan Mitchell’s hole
C Honza NemecRookietrade with USA for Pavel Hornik91 BA/98 ARNemec is a big bat catcher

--Czech Republic had to make cost cutting moves and dealt some stars for picks. Neither the rotation nor the lineup will be as good this year but the team was starting to age and they are looking to stock up a little while still remaining competitive in the division. They still have a strong defense and staff that punches above their weight.

    Russia
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
2B James HeisenbergRookie1941 2nd round pick (#32)91 RA/84 GLRussia stole this guy in the second round of the 1941 draft-he’ll be a great defender

--Russia made a strong call-up in Heisenberg and made some small cap moves. He will be a great addition for their FI-heavy staff. Their lineup hits well for average and out of the park, but they are terrible at getting on base. This team has some very solid players but not a ton of studs, and aren’t well rounded. This could be their year, or they could end up 4th or 5th once again.

    Cuba
    PlayerStatusHow acquired Key Stats Comments
2B Daryl AndersonRookie1946 1st round pick (#14)93 GLAnderson has a good glove but has a weak bat
LF George FormanRookie1945 1st round pick (#20)88 SLForman is a slugger who isn’t great at much else and will be a decent bench bat

--Cuba brought up two decent rookies. They have a competitive team (never count out Roman Spero, who should have won MVP last year) but have glaring weaknesses in the lineup around him and Kenneth Gutierrez and in the field that showed up in the playoffs last year. They also have a fantastic rotation headlined by Kelly Williams and will definitely be in the thick of this division again.

And now for my prediction of this year’s standings:

    New Caledonia 90-70
    Cuba 86-74
    Russia 85-75
    Czech Republic 84-76
    Dominican Republic 82-78
    Vatican City 78-82
Looking forward to seeing if Russia can end our 5 year playoff drought and climb out of relegation with some solid batting and a heavy dose of FI pitchers. Should be a great season!
