I replied to your June 1 message in PM, and you never responded. Why should I bother now?

I just looked at the current state of awards this season and was surprised to see that I (Florida) had three in the running for RoY. Even more intriguing is that two of them were SS's... one plays against lefties only, and has only had something like 30 games under his belt this year. He's not on the list for really good hitting... or even half-way good fielding... frankly I have no idea why he's sitting at #6.

It's because he has taken all your team's rookie hazing like a champ.

In reality since everyone was a rookie last season the amount of rookies this season may be limited

Gee, i wonder what would the season would have been if I hadnt traded away my top two pitchers. This team minus the 2 have clinched a playoff birth. It looks like this team is on pace for the same win total but division play has been far off from last season, or should I say of Baltimore who has had a real drop off after a playoff appearance last season.

Its been a very different season, here are some serious changes this season.

SeasonG AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
    Duckett, Mahlon1981 159 625 76 171 32 5 17 62 60 148 0 0 .274 .341 .422 .763

    Hart, Stacy1981 152 626 84 168 28 5 31 105 39 127 1 0 .268 .319 .478 .797

     1982149 609 94 140 33 7 13 49 102 46 2 3 .230 .341 .371 .712
    Barrett, Robert1981160 635 94 215 43 8 28 101 83 57 1 1 .339 .415 .564 .979
     1982 156 627 79 186 35 7 21 93 74 78 0 1 .297 .372 .475 .847
    Richmond, Ernest1981 149 582 79 156 29 2 24 90 69 105 1 1 .268 .348 .448 .797
     1982 147 581 80 161 32 6 21 92 86 103 4 0 .277 .372 .461 .833

Duckett's growth has been the difference with Hart's dropoff, and though both solid Richmond has picked up some of Barrett's slack.

As for pitching Alvarado & Poirier have stepped up big time with the loss of Myers & Mcdougal

Barras was acquired in the deal for Myers and has been very good. 14-9 / 3.31 20 of 31 QS/ 11CG

And Reinert who was acquired for 15 second round spots swapping #28 for #43. He's a bit of a defensive liability but his numbers tell a tale of a prototypical power hitter.

    Re: 1982 Season Discussion

Little interesting tidbit. My Rookie CF Steven Owens https://www.csfbl.com/player/view.asp?playerid=4723859 dropped the first ever ball hit to him in CF in the first inning of the first game this season. My thoughts were..oh damn I thought he would be better then that. He then went on to play the rest of the year and committed a total of 1 more error in CF the rest of the season. Fielding stats in CF: 117 Games, 276 PO, 32 A, 2 E, 310 TCs. He did have 1 more error playing out of position in RF but overall the 10K couldn't be happier with him.

Detroit ended the season on a tear winning 8 of 10, and squeaking back into the playoffs. We played the 2nd half much better ending with a +143, going 48-32.

Dumbos, from 1981 worst team (54-106) to 1982 5th best team (88-72), with P.O. appearence.

34 more wins. from -191 to +72 run differential.

The team turned with the rule 5 draft pick acquisiton of Jerry Palomares from division leader San Diego Fleet

Palomares put up a super cool season, at .315/.357/.510 with 23 HR and 62 SB in 125 games.
