    1982 Season Discussion

Wow, Detroit is on a WS hangover. 0-4 so far scoring 10 runs in 4 games against last seasons last place team Pittsburgh. James has 4 of the 10 RBI. 6+ team ERA. Brutal.

Philly traded away 39 SP wins this offseason so its not surprising the team started 0-5 but when 4 of the 5 were 1 run games was the big story. The team finally pulled off its 1st win but this will be a long season. The hope after seeing this start is that 50 wins will be possible.

Slight rules adjustment, please take a look. during rule 5 period traded players are immune to being selected for 24 hours to allow their new team time to add to active roster, I made the same adjustment to any player newly added in FA by a team.

Newly added FAs & Traded players- when a player is received in a trade or added in FA, he is immune to the rule 5 process for 24 Hours / 8 sim days. If a player is received in a trade and is sent to AAA or LM he must be moved to the active roster within the timeframe listed above or be subject to a rule 5 claim.

    Re: 1982 Season Discussion

Florida can't hit anyone this season. It's a good thing that the team had so many wins last season, as its 2-10 start this season bodes poorly for draft pick placement in the future.

The team has the fifth worst in BA in the league, and is last in HR's and OPS.

We knew that we would lose some of last year's greatness in trading super all-star SS Patrick Osborne to San Diego in the preseason, but didn't expect the team to fall apart without his leadership.

To make it worse, the team's pitching this season is horrible so far. We have the second worst ERA in the league and are last in WHIP. While the team strikes out a reasonable number of batters, it is in the top three of each of the opponents' batting categories (OAVG, OOBP, OSLG, OOPS).

Osborne's replacement hasn't performed anywhere near expectation so far in the field, so Florida has claimed what appeared to be the best available SS via rule 5 (SS David Myers) from Cleveland (where the Spiders are crawling with SS's). We are hoping for the best... maybe not another playoff run... but at least to be in the middle of the pack by season's end.

Perhaps there is hope for the future also, as the team gets a little younger after the SD trade. Still... was it worth it? Maybe time will tell.

Osborne only had a .738 OPS last year (with 7 HR and 55 RBI), if he was a big cog in your offense, you weren't very far from bad to begin with. It's very good for an elite RA SS, but for most positions that would be a borderline starter.

We were 0-3 in 1 run games until winning 2 of the last 3. Thanks to winning big and losing small, we are 3.5 games behind a team which has an inferior RD to us.

He wasn't a big piece of offense... just a good hitter fr a SS.. my trouble this season is that the guys who all hit .300+ last season are hitting around .230 this season....

Wolverines still sucking big time. We're not even scoring 3 runs a game at this point, after hitting 6 at one point last season. We're hitting 50 points below last year, and barely more than a HR per game (last year was at least 1.5). ERA is an awful 4.69, where last year was 3.90. And we are 8/20 on QS, compared to 92 last season.
