Right. Mine too. Wish I had this team in season 5 instead of season 9.

    Re: 2010 Season Discussion

I am really pleased to finish in 8th place. I did so only going to the playoffs twice and never winning a playoff series. That was the same as GOAT 2. However, in GOAT 2 I finished 17th overall, so that is a big improvement. I think that is partially due to the changes to the scoring system, which I felt were much more fair this time around.

I have a style of drafting for balance. It results in very consistent teams with a lot of wins, but not necessarily top end success. Just like last sprint, I noticed several things I could have done better and I will attempt to correct in GOAT 4. If I have the same sort of improvement, I should be very competitive.

That was fun. Thanks for all your hard work, guys.

Looks good Hardy, appreciate you taking care of this. Also just throwing it out there that while I think Notorious Assassin's placement is clearly too low (divisional points murdered that team in particular) I also think it is more a case of the exception that proves the rule. Still, we are looking at changing the impact of divisions and divisional points.

    Re: 2010 Season Discussion

My enthuism going into this season quickly crumbled into dust and I was forced to look at 73-87 mediocrity.

Every hitter on the team, with the exception of C Bustos, Spencer and maybe OF Green, Jeremy came up short of expectations. Green was a lefty & hitting platoon, and matched his career average, so not exactly lighting it up.

Pitching-wise, the normally reliable Miller, Orlando and Parker, Dante both had 5.14 ERAs and both went 11-18. Had they matched their career ERAs of 4.01 and 4.18, this might have been a different season. There's really nothing in their histories to suggest such a big dropoff this year that I can see. The rest of the staff performed admirably, with every single other significant starter and reliever sporting an ERA in the 3s.

Quick word on Spencer Bustos: He was my 7th round pick in the 24 & under draft. I think his poor arm as a catcher let him fall to me. I've given up too many stolen bases this sprint as a result, but his offense has been really steady for me. He played 8 seasons for me, hitting .256/.349/.442/.792. He hit 215 homers, and stole 208 bases (88 caught). His XRAA is 100. Not my MVP, but good value for where he was picked.

We finished 12th this sprint. Right in the nice meaty part of the curve. We were 8th in the league in run differential, but that is little consolation. Only one playoff appearance, which pains me to no end. I think I'd rather have spent half the league losing 100 games but make the playoffs 3 or 4 times. Regardless, with Payton and Roshar taking 14 of the 20 playoff spots available in the division this sprint, there weren't many spots left to go around. Those guys were so lucky...the players they picked always seemed to do well. (totally joking about being lucky...you guys schooled me).

Looking back at the initial player drafts, I can clearly see mistakes that I made. Hopefully I can correct those mistakes without introducing a dozen new ones next time around.

Any way, it's been fun--mostly I very much look forward to doing it again.

    Cheers,
    Wayne

Great value there. I took my no-arm catcher 3 picks later, and he was a mid-sprint cap casualty who only managed .246/.348/.395. I was mighty disappointed to see Bustos go right before my turn in the draft.

Ya, I had a better team than the standings show. But I just got to go out there in GOAT4 and totally redeem myself
