    1981 inaugural season

I dont want to clog up the FA draft thread with too much discussion about team forecasts and discussions that have started about the draft process and such so feel free to add all that here.

I started the FA draft by sending out PMs for block 1 due tomorrow night by 8PM ET but hoping we will blast through this draft and get the preseason/seasons going. You assistance is appreciated.

    Now to my Stars
I'm picking about as much in the middle as you can get (13) and i'm not feeling like some that have questioned how the teams in the middle will fare with FA & new player draft picks away from the top.

I'm not going to go into depth about actual players as i'm still getting to know these guys but my brief analysis early on is that I have very specific needs that I think i can fill in the FA draft and not have to break the bank with the top salaried players on the board. Pitching looks solid & INF defense should be ok while a top of the order bat & a true power guy in the middle will be a focus. The team is also very RH and we'll be looking to fix that also.

I think it will be just fine. I counted enough good players that would go in the first round of any draft for everyone to land two. And there should be enough good ones that are young for the rebuilding (prebuilding?) teams that those in the middle should be able to land a really good player.

The fact that Montreal signs 19 YO Pitcher Ernest Delacruz with the 1st overall FA draft picks signals a look to the future. Rightfully so but it also brings up the fact that there will still be pressure on the team to win the league minimum (50) this season or face a -5 slot draft penalty next season. So though the team may spend their top picks on the future i'd think there would be a different focus on FA once the first 48 are gone.

    I'm digging all the scenarios

Haha, with that guy, and #1 in the rookie draft also, they're going to be off to a great start, regardless of how they finish. He really lucked out being the lowest salary team. Never seen a league award one team two #1 overall picks for starting out with the lowest salary, but he got that winning lottery ticket.

Boston had good Defensive Quality, but that could be well needed if we don´t get the improvements we need at our bullpen.

Otherwise Boston isn´t very happy with the schedule. At one Point it could be a slightly Bonus Point to end the Season with 14 home games in a row, but People in Boston will need to have lots of patience to see the first pitch at boston when Boston welcomes Minnesota at April 22.

Anyone willing to trade down in the draft if you are in the late first round or very early second?

So there have been a lot of draft picks traded, everyone should be reminded that you will need a pick between 31-54 to make a Rule 5 selection. Im sure if you offered an earlier pick to the team who's player you'd like to claim, them may consider it. But they dont have to.

The FA draft is nearing a close which means open season for FAs is around the corner. I really hope to wrap the draft up tonight, if thats the case i'll be unpausing the league tomorrow morning before the 6AM ET sim. This means that 6AM Wednesday morning FAs will sign with their new teams. I'll keep everyone posted, this preseason has been long enough for everyone to make a list and cross off those taken, from here on things will move pretty quick.

As soon as the final player is selected in the FA draft anyone is able to bid on FAs regardless of whether the league is on pause or not.
