21-year-old rookie Benjamin Pope just threw his first career shutout, a nifty three-hitter. The thing that caught my attention was it only took him 66 pitches.

I'm sure someone has gone lower but its the first time I've noticed such a low pitch count for a 9-inning game.

Nice one, it's not often a pitcher does better than that! I had a player in Spring Training league throw a 62 pitch four-hitter last season but other than that, it's definitely a rarity.
