Atkins not invited back to Admirals

Joseph Atkins has been released by the Adirondack Admirals, as the 2003 rosters begin to take shape. The league leader for saves in a career with 569 saves, Atkins is the last member of the Admirals who was on the inaugural 1981 roster. The last couple of seasons were rough for Atkins, who saw him lose the closer job to Calvin Wilson last season. A 9-time All-Star and 6-time Fireman of the Year, Atkins should be the next Admiral inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Ontario Ocelots (MLB World) 2089-<World Champs 2091>
Berkshire Blue Devils (Extraordinary Prospects) 1987- <Conf Champs 1994>
Hartford Harpoon (Prime Time Prospects) 1981-1988

On this note, Pleasant Gap's own Andrew Neal has hung up the cleats after being cut from the team earlier this year. As of the 2003 season, Neal is the league's career leader in strikeouts; him and Atkins will be missed.
