Thanks! Good series and Richard French pitched way above his ability there. I was pretty much assuming he was due to get shelled in game 6. Hope he carries it over into the new season.

Congrats bluto, always impressive to go back-to-back in hard cap leagues - if you've won the title your players have inevitably performed well, and so get a pay raise as a result. You're then having to manage higher salaries across the board against teams who will still have some sleepers...

    Re: Starting to Hate Clowns...

    Congrats on the repeat.

I'm well past starting to hate the Clowns.

For the first 85 years of this league (1920-2004), the Clowns were histroically terrible. They had exactly one division series win, back in 1928 (when the also managed to win the World Series). So, up to that time, their team page would have looked like this:

    Playoff Appearances

    Division Champs:
    1928
    Conference Champs:
    1928
    World Series Champs:
    1928

Eight-five years of history, and ONE year when they won the division series. It staggers the mind.

If we take a look at the 14 seasons starting in 2010 & work our way to the present, they've won 5 World Series (including 3 in a row 2016-18 and 2 in a row 2022-23), and made the post season (first or 2nd place in the division) 12 of 14 seasons.

    Making up for lost time.

I miss the days when I only had to worry about 4 of the other teams in my division...

Seriously, though, nice work & best of luck going forward.

    Cheers,
    Wayne

    Re: Starting to Hate Clowns...

As for my own sad Clowns story: My team (Newark Eagles) won the World Series in 2012, and had 3 more solid finishes after that. But then, starting in 2015, it was a string of 3rd place finishes for 7 seasons in 2015-2021. During those seasons, the "lowly" Clowns and my most hated nemeis, the Harrisburg Colored Giants, were both averaging around 100 wins. I was averaging 86 wins during that span (with several 91s, an 89 and an 88), yet averaging 18 games back in the division race (and not much closer to 2nd place). It's been brutal. Not going to the playoffs, and also not getting good draft picks.

Even this year, my team won 92 and came in 2nd, but we were still SEVENTEEN games behind the Clowns. At least we took them to 7 games in the Division Series this year.

What I'm trying to say here is, I've had pretty good teams over the past 10 or 12 seasons, probably not much worse than my team that won the WS in 2012. But the Clowns have just been on a higher plain during that time--and Harrisburg wasn't far behind them for a span.

    Cheers,
    Wayne

Never had to worry about them recently, mainly because when I was good, I couldn't get behind Chatanooga in the division, I got my own worries.

Edit: Though I am reaping the rewards this season, of a Clown salary dump of Maxwell.
