Thread: Survey: three things that would make CSFBL better

    I would like to add:

Non-forgetful scouting. If you have a scout that you know is great, and then can't afford to pay him and get a scout that you know is bad (or no scout at all), you should "remember" what the good scout told you, not scratch your head and no longer be able to tell who's good or not. Maybe have the actuals in the "history" tab reflect what the scout at the time saw (maybe with a note of what scouting level there was at the time), and have a toggle for the potentials between current scouting and best scouting (that has existed since player was drafted). For owners that don't own the player, they'd see it as it is now, according to their current scouting.

If I know I'm losing all or part of my scout I take screen shots of scouted numbers before it takes place.

Me too, I save it all in an excel spreadsheet, and even notate how much scouting I had for each year's data. But, this game wants to get away from excel, so...

Re: Survey: three things that would make CSFBL better

I've been on the site for a little more than 6 months now and certain things bothered me when I first joined. No injuries? Top 2 teams of every division go to the playoffs? Although I play fantasy baseball and injuries are huge, I actually kinda like no injuries on this site. In fantasy baseball, it's about your own scouting and how you can adapt to injuries and underperforming players, but on CSFBL, I see it more as a board game now. You have your players and some can underperform, but luck of the injury bug won't derail your season. Your team won't have the easy cop out of "oh well if I didn't have this guy blow out his arm, I woulda won" that almost all owners exclaim every year. You know what you are getting playing time wise and have to manage that. I like it now. As for the playoff structure, I've thought about that too and initially wanted one exactly like the MLB, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it wouldn't change how many series there are. Would the number 1 seed face off against the division winner/wild card winner in the second round? With only 2 divisions per conference, I think the structure now makes the most sense. If you restructure the divisions, then that's another story, but I don't mind it this way.

There are things I instantly noticed that I still think should be integrated. Pinch hitting and running I think are huge. I constantly try to have a lefty sub on my bench because I want some balance, but he isn't utilized as much as he should. I won't name drop other sites, but selecting which players can be subbed out and which bench players can be used to pinch hit or run is a simple system. I know after some time we will want to make it more complex (like the players saying individual settings like toast or base stealing), but just having that option of pinch hitting or running after a certain inning is a good start.

Free agency or rule 5 draft. I've been seeing this here and there and I personally think it should be integrated to some extent. I'm in a league where they integrate mandatory free agency for players that hit a certain age. My suggestion is to make a commissioner tool for these unique leagues so they can run their leagues a little smoother. You can do a lot on this site if you're willing to put in the time, but that's how people get burned out. I'm not a commissioner, so I don't know what it looks like, but adding in a tool so all players of a certain age, or experience, or their MLB service will be dropped. Maybe players of a certain age in the minors should be dropped or rule 5 draft where owners can steal other players but have to use them or they go back to the original team. I just want there to be options for commissioners so they can have free agency, rule 5 draft, or recruit style drafting. Maybe the commishes of these leagues (CWS, PGML, RTTB as some examples) don't mind the work and maybe it's a lot easier than I think, but if not, I'd like for them to speak up and get some kind of tool to make their leagues a little easier to run.

I saw live drafts as well, but you could just force everyone to get skype or another online thing and do a live draft that way. The autonumbering system that's in place would make it easy to drop the guys being drafted as the draft goes along. Just my two cents and a couple of suggestions (1 that I think is doable and another that may be too complex to even attempt)

Re: Survey: three things that would make CSFBL better

Everyone has great feedback and they're all great additions if possible, I saw the master list but I wanted to add these things that I didn't see and might be overlooked.

    1. Drag and Drop Lineups and Pitching Staff.

Typing numbers in is annoying and really difficult on mobile. On desktop, autofill always wants to put in my zip code and doing pitching staff rehauls at the beginning of the year usually involves a notepad document. Drag and drop would be great and would really modernize the feel of the lineups page.

    2. Revamp the Stats page

When sorting on the stats page, it is really annoying that I click on RBI at the top and it sorts smallest to largest. Most people are generally interested in the number of players who have the least of something so it's a minor annoyance. I'd love to see a "league leaders" page similar to the all time leaders page that applied to just that season so I could see at a glance who the top guys are in each category without sorting repeatedly. I'd also personally like to see the return of the "All Seasons" tab for Team stats. I maintain the "all time" list for a league I'm in that's less than 15 seasons but it's pretty impossible for longer lasting leagues.

    3. Better Forum/Game Integrations

The forums and the game act like two separate places and I think that needs to be fixed. There's a mobile app for just the forums, a different log in for each and people can have different names in game and on the forums. They need to be integrated better and the app should have some game functionality on it even if it's just the ability to view teams and games. I understand that developing an app is a lot to ask but it just feels like they've been separate for so long and forum activity is definitely helpful in retaining players.

I would like to see a Franchise include Minor League levels..A, AA, AAA .. Franchise owners draft for A level only have the ability to move players between levels but only up till you get to majors then you can send down to AAA ROSTERS would be set at each level and only A level could be minus 1 to limit... obviously a small A waiver list is needed but only 1 player off list may replace a moved player per team per season...all seasons run simultaneously. .. this would be more realistic than present waiver, FA, PSFA currently used

I know i forgot to mention this, havnt kept track of more recent posts but...

Advancing on groundouts! If you hav a runner on 2B with a grounder hit to the right, they should advance to 3B on a large pct of the plays. Same thing with a bases loaded double and nobody out kinda situation. If they take the force at 2B and 1B, the runners on 2B and 3B should advance
