They also got Reilly Smith for taking Jonathan Marchessault, because the Panthers wanted to protect Mark Pysyk and Alex Petrovic. Smith and Marchessault were the top scorers in Vegas' first playoffs, with 22 and 21 points in 20 games.

I wonder if teams will be as self-destructive in this year's expansion draft. I won't bet against it.

The ducks gave Shea Theodore so they would take Stoner instead of Manson (because we had to protect bxa)

I feel like teams were prepared this time (for seattle) because they didnt give NMC to bad players

The Sharks are probably pretty safe despite those NMC, because they don't have a lot of defensemen worth protecting.

Minnesota is the one in deep trouble. Beside Parise and Suter, they also have NMC on Zuccarello, Brodin, and Spurgeon. That means they will most likely have to expose Matt Dumba or a forward that they do not want to lose. Last time they gave away Alex Tuch to protect someone, and they will most likely have to do something like that again (unless they can convince Suter and Parise to waive their NMC).

That could be due to the difficulty to protect him in the expansion draft. He is overpaid, but surely worth more than nothing.

And tonight Canada could get knocked out of the world championships.

Speaking of which, Sweden got knocked out last night. It is the first time since 1937 that Sweden does not finish in the top 8. The world continues its descent.

Canada stayed alive, thanks to getting that much needed point in a shootout loss to Finland.
