Rookie Steven Rivera, who I've only ever had partial scouting on, and who I didn't know what to expect from, is among the leaders for ROY consideration. He's certainly surpassed my expectations. He's getting on base at .400, while on pace for 30+ HR and nearly 100 RBI. Not bad for #24 overall.

This season is not what the Reds planned on. At 51 and 91, there have not been alot of good highlights for the Reds. DH Jorge Miller is one of the highlights with 35 homers and 100 rbis. Ethan Howe has hit 32 homeruns while hitting 319. Third baseman Kerry Hayden has stolen 27 bases this season. Pitching was very extinct this season, but Robert Cotto did manage to win 14 games. This is a year the Reds would like to forget.

Most runs I've ever seen a team score without hitting any HR's:

The Pilots finished a surprising 87-73. Just missed the playoffs but I didn't think we'd be anywhere close to a playoff spot. But we contended until the end.

Why did we do so well?

CF David Roper had one of the best seasons of his career. .291 avg with 39 HRs and 124 RBI. 2.22 range in the outfield.

RF Lewis Manna hit 27 HRs, driving in 90 with 93 walks.

1B Hans Brogan had a tremendous season, scoring 111 runs and walking 157 times. Added power with 36 doubles and 23 HRs.

2B David Cooley walked 134 times, hit 20 HRs and scored 93 runs.

SS Michael Lawson was excellent defensively but also hit .285 with 14 HRs.

    Rookie P Benny Wilkins was a 20 game winner. 24 QS and 232 K's.

Veteran Earl Miller is still strong, going 11-6 with a 3.24 ERA.

Closer Eugene Trapp picked up 38 saves.

    Re: 1970 News and Highlights

Well the Giants finished the season with a +460 run differential, one of the best in league history. In fact this marks only the 5th time a team has gone over +400. It's championship or bust for this team. Its going to require a lot of luck to overcome the teams in our way but if we can pull it off the 1970 Giants will go down in history as one of the greatest teams of all-time.

Very happy to see this seasons comes to an end...

It can only go better from here.

Pitching will improve but we are still missing an ace prospect.

Good luck to all championship contenders.

Angels went 94-66, we wont be happy unless we advance in postseason. Especially with Seattle coming up.
Darryl Berrios continues to develop, which is exciting. 300+ Ks is always cool

    Re: 1970 News and Highlights

    Playoff matchups:

    Senators vs Yankees

    Angels vs Royals

    Brewers vs Colonels

    Giants vs Padres

Some good matchups. Everyone is looking forward to a Giants-Brewers matchup but I predict it will not happen. There will be an upset. The Padres and Colonels are always tough despite their records. Who will pull off the upset? Not saying.

The Angels and Royals will be interesting. Both teams were challenged for playoff spots this year. The Royals enter with 5 straight wins.

The Senators and Yankees has the least hype but Washington is the defending AL champs.

The padres lose a heart-breaker in game 1. We out-hit San Fran, but only singles and one double (with nobody on). San Fran only got one XBH also, but it was a leadoff triple, and they then scored on a fly ball. One of only 2 hits they got. When you 2-hit a team and lose, you know it's not your year. With that super-team in San Fran, it's probably not going to be my year for a long time, lol.
